Get a Verified Rating

Resourcehip publishes two types of rating: Category Ratings and Verified Ratings. Category ratings assess a whole product category using publicly available data — no specific manufacturer is named. Verified ratings are different.

What is a Verified Rating?

A Verified Rating assesses a specific product from a named manufacturer, using evidence submitted directly by that manufacturer. Where a Category Rating uses conservative assumptions based on publicly available data, a Verified Rating draws on the actual materials, supply chain, and end-of-life data for a specific product.

Verified ratings almost always score higher than the category baseline — because real data about what a product actually contains and how it is made tells a better story than conservative assumptions.

Who is it for?

Verified Ratings are for:

Why it matters: the HIP Mark

The HIP Mark is Resourcehip's consumer-facing quality badge. It has three tiers:

HIP Mark Standard Standard
HIP ≥ 6.0
HIP Mark Silver Silver
HIP ≥ 7.5
HIP Mark Gold Gold
HIP ≥ 9.0 + RI ≥ +6
Tier HIP Score required Additional requirement Rating type required
HIP Mark Standard 6.0+ Verified
HIP Mark Silver 7.5+ Verified
HIP Mark Gold 9.0+ Regenerative Index ≥ +6.0 Verified

A Verified Rating is required for all HIP Mark tiers. Generic category ratings are not eligible. This ensures the badge reflects real, independently verified product data — not an estimate.

Regenerative Index tiers

Every Verified Rating also carries a Regenerative Index (RI) score — a measure from −10 to +10 of whether the product's materials and supply chains are extracting from or restoring natural systems. Products are assigned one of five RI tiers:

RI tier: Depleting RI tier: Extractive RI tier: Renewable RI tier: Restorative RI tier: Regenerative

What the process involves

Getting a Verified Rating involves three stages:

  1. Submit your product data and evidence dossier
Resourcehip provides a structured submission template covering materials composition, supply chain provenance, repairability documentation, and end-of-life pathways. Pricing and timeline: see our Pricing page.

  2. Assessment by Resourcehip analysts
Your submitted data is scored against the seven HIP dimensions by Resourcehip's assessment team. The process is transparent: you will receive a breakdown of each dimension score, the evidence used, and the rationale for the final HIP Score.

  3. HIP Mark licence (if your score qualifies)
If your product achieves a score of 6.0 or above on a Verified Rating, you are eligible to licence the HIP Mark for use in product communications, packaging, and marketing. Licence terms: see our Pricing page.
