Dispute a Rating

Resourcehip ratings are based on publicly available data and, for verified ratings, manufacturer-submitted information. We make every effort to ensure scores are accurate and based on the best available evidence. However, we may not always have access to the most current or complete data.

If you are a manufacturer and believe a rating of your product category is based on incorrect data, or that relevant evidence has not been considered, you can request a formal review.

What you can dispute

You cannot dispute a score simply because you disagree with the methodology or the weighting applied. The methodology is publicly documented and applied consistently. If you have concerns about the methodology itself, please contact us separately at methodology@resourcehip.com.

How to raise a dispute

Email methodology@resourcehip.com with the following:

  1. The rating you are disputing — the product category name and the URL of the rating page
  2. The specific dimension(s) you believe are incorrectly scored
  3. The evidence you are relying on — with the source clearly cited (e.g. a published data sheet, a certification document, a public database record)
  4. Your contact details and your role (e.g. manufacturer, industry body, researcher)

We cannot review disputes that do not include specific evidence. Assertions that a score "feels wrong" or "is too low" without supporting data will not initiate a formal review.

What happens next

Step Timeframe
Acknowledgement Within 5 business days of receiving your dispute
Review Within 30 days of acknowledgement
Outcome Written response explaining our decision and any changes made

If we determine that a rating should be updated based on your evidence, we will revise the rating and note the revision date and reason on the rating page. If we determine the score stands, we will explain why.

Escalation

If you are unsatisfied with the outcome of a review, you may request that it be reconsidered by a second reviewer. Escalation requests must be made within 14 days of receiving the initial outcome and must include new or additional evidence not submitted with the original dispute.

Good faith

Resourcehip operates in good faith. Our ratings are intended to be useful, accurate, and fair. We welcome evidence that helps us improve a rating — that is part of how the system is designed to work. Manufacturers who engage with the dispute process in good faith and provide credible evidence will find Resourcehip responsive.

If you are interested in having your specific product assessed through the verified rating process, this is often the most effective route to a score that accurately reflects your product's characteristics.
