Resourcehip is open for ratings
For the last few months we have been quiet, building the HIP methodology — a seven-dimension rating that asks how a consumer product holds up against material scarcity, supply-chain risk, recyclability, repairability, social and environmental impact, longevity, and a Regenerative Index that runs from −10 to +10. Today we are open for ratings.
Three things to look at first.
An air fryer, scored 2.9 out of 10 against the category baseline. The interesting number is the ceiling: 7.1. That is the gap between what we publish in the absence of evidence and what a real, well-made air fryer can score with its actual materials and supply chain on the table. → HIP rating: Air Fryers
A cork product, scored 5.2 out of 10 with a Regenerative Index of 0 — Renewable. Cork is FSC-certified, sustainably harvested without cutting trees, and the warranty on a typical product runs ten years. The HIP score is held back by mixed fasteners and limited end-of-life options, not the material. The methodology rewards what the material does and penalises what the assembly does — separately. → HIP rating: Cork Products

Wireless earbuds, scored 1.8 out of 10. Critical raw materials (cobalt, neodymium, gold, lithium), single-jurisdiction extraction, glued housings, no spare parts, three-year design life. The lowest of the three. The ceiling, even on the best wireless earbuds we have seen described in evidence, sits at 5.9 — below the Standard HIP Mark threshold of 6.0. → HIP rating: Wireless Earbuds
Each rating publishes the score for every dimension, the rationale, the data sources, and the conservative assumptions made where evidence was not public. Methodology v1.3 is published in full at resourcehip.com/methodology under Creative Commons (CC BY-NC 4.0). It is meant to be read.
If you make a product and want it scored on its actual materials and supply chain rather than the conservative category baseline, we are now taking commissions: resourcehip.com/pricing. The first five customers to commission a paid rating before 30 September 2026 receive a 30% launch discount.
Independent. Conservative. Public.
